Main Street Suite - Millpond Inn
Guest rating: 4.8 / 5
Overview
The Main Street Suite is one of several suites at the Millpond Inn, a bed and breakfast originally opened in 1994 and fully refreshed in 2020. Located in the historic district of the Village of Clarkston in Auburn Hills, the suite takes its name from the Main Street frontage visible from its sitting room. This is the Inn's only suite with a gas fireplace, and features new appliances, linens, and much of the furniture.
Rooms & Comfort
The suite includes a kitchen, microwave, ironing board, cable TV, air conditioning, and heating, along with a smoke-free environment throughout. It is the only suite at the Inn with twin beds, making it a distinctive option for families or small groups traveling together. A gas fireplace sets the mood for relaxing evenings, and a crib is available upon request.
Dining
A complimentary continental breakfast is served in the suite, including pastries, fresh fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, breakfast bars, and Keurig coffee and tea. Guests can also walk to downtown Clarkston, a short distance away, for a variety of restaurants and cafes, including Latin cuisine and barbecue.
Amenities & Recreation
Outdoor amenities include a shared backyard with a BBQ grill, dining tables, and a hot tub, plus views of the Mill Pond. Free parking is provided, though limited to one reserved spot per reservation, with an additional spot available on request based on availability.
Location
Millpond Inn sits just off I-75 on Main Street in the historic Village of Clarkston, within a short, scenic walk of downtown shops, restaurants, and historic homes. Pine Knob Music Theatre and Pine Knob Ski Resort are each about a 4-mile drive away, with Mt. Holly Ski and Snowboard Resort roughly 10 miles north. Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and Bishop International Airport are both accessible by car for regional travel.
Best for
This suite suits families and small groups, particularly those with children, thanks to its twin beds, crib availability, kid-friendly designation, and stocked kitchen for easy meals. It also appeals to concert and outdoor recreation travelers, given its proximity to Pine Knob Music Theatre and nearby ski resorts, as well as anyone wanting a walkable historic downtown experience over a standard hotel stay.
Travel tips
Parking is limited to one reserved spot per reservation, so arrive with a single vehicle and inquire in advance if a second car is needed. Walking to downtown Clarkston is recommended over driving, since downtown parking is limited and paid, and the walk showcases the village's historic homes. Ride-hailing services like Uber are less reliable in this area than in larger cities, so guests should check availability ahead of time rather than depend on them.
What guests say
Guests consistently praise the suite's convenient, walkable location near downtown Clarkston and Pine Knob Music Theatre, along with its updated, well-furnished interior and cozy atmosphere. The backyard hot tub is frequently highlighted as a welcome bonus, and families traveling with young children note the fully stocked kitchen and generous continental breakfast options. One review mentioned finding a hair in the bathroom, a minor cleanliness lapse, though overall cleanliness was still described positively.
